It’s very different to see a book about the Kentucky Wildcats not being written by a sportswriter but author Doug Brunk has done a very impressive job with this book. He interviewed many notable Wildcats players from many eras of the program. They could have said no but they opened up and shared their thoughts on who influenced them during their time playing for the University of Kentucky.

What Brunk has been able to do is illuminate the intimate connection between the basketball program and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Brunk has brought together coaches, players, and personalities to reflect on their Wildcat tenure. Personal essays and behind-the-scenes stories come from the likes of legends such as Wallace “Wah-Wah” Jones, C.M. Newton, Larry Conley, Dan Issel, Joe B. Hall, Mike Pratt, Kevin Grevey, Kyle Macy, Tubby Smith, Patrick Patterson, Darius Miller, and John Wall. It’s a heartfelt collection and gives us an inside look at one of the best basketball programs in history.
